  • STAMINA

    Supported exercise TrAining for Men with prostate caNcer on Androgen deprivation therapy

    A five year research project funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) in the UK.

    STAMINA evaluated the effectiveness of a long term supported exercise intervention in men with advanced prostate cancer who have undergone medical castration with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).

    Cancer Activity Programme

    Following on the success of the STAMINA programme, CAP is a four year extension of the team’s partnership with Nuffield Health to deliver a safe and effective supervised exercise programme, embedded within NHS standard care, for people with cancer.

  • OASIS

    SpaceOAR post-market registry study

    A multi-year observational study funded to evaluate the safety of rectal hydrogel spacers (SpaceOAR and SpaceOAR Vue) used alongside radiotherapy for prostate cancer in routine care in the UK and France.

    The study will follow men receiving these spacers for up to 36 months, collecting information from clinical records and patient questionnaires about treatment-related side effects and quality of life over the short and long term.

    ImProving procEss data collection and intervention delivery systeMs in pragmatic trials to addrEss THe needs Of Diverse users

    Building on the STAMINA programme, PE-METHOD investigates how to design systems that maximise efficient data collection and management for diverse users, including healthcare professionals, exercise professionals and patients. The project aims to build a prototype system using STAMINA as an exemplar intervention.

    SUrvivors Rehabilitation Evaluation After CANcer

    A five year study designed to target people with ongoing poor quality of life and psychological distress following a cancer diagnosis.

    The study developed and tested a novel psychological intervention based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for these patients.

  • PANTERA

    ProstAte cancer Novel ThERApy

    A trial to investigate whether regular exercise can help keep prostate cancer from spreading to other parts of the body and could be a viable NHS treatment.

    It evaluated the feasibility of exercise therapy in men with localised prostate cancer, in terms of recruitment, adherence and compliance over 12 months of supervised exercise training.
