We have extended our partnership with Nuffield Health for a further 4 years following the success of the STAMINA programme.
Our primary role is to provide expert advice to support Nuffield Health to deliver a safe and effective supervised exercise programme, embedded within NHS standard care, for people with cancer.
The intervention is underpinned by the latest NICE guidance and evidence from the STAMINA RCT. Evaluation and optimisation of the programme and pathway will be guided by Implementation Science frameworks and formalised intervention development methods will be applied to explore how to scale-out the programme to other cancer groups. At present:
The Cancer Activity Programme (CAP) is a free, expert-led 24-week exercise programme designed to support individuals undergoing androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) as part of their prostate cancer treatment.
In line with the latest NICE guidelines, CAP combines supervised aerobic and resistance exercise training, proven to reduce fatigue, maintain physical function, and improve quality of life for those receiving ADT.
CAP is specifically designed to be embedded within the cancer care pathway as an essential complement to clinical treatment. It provides patients with the structure, support, and supervision needed to safely incorporate exercise as part of their overall care.
Through CAP, patients can experience the empowering benefits of exercise, helping them move with and beyond cancer.
