Liam Bourke is a Professor of Cancer Research and leader of team STAMINA.

He completed his PhD at Sheffield Hallam University before working for 3 years as a lecturer at Barts Medical School, Queen Mary University of London. He returned to SHU in 2014 to take up roles as Chief Investigator for the CRUK-funded PANTERA trial, Academic Programme Director on the STAMINA NIHR Programme Grant and leading the research team in Sheffield for the SURECAN NIHR Programme Grant.

More recently he leads the SHU strategic partnership with Nuffield Health on the CAP project and oversees the research team working on the international OASIS trial.  

He has sat on international clinical cancer guidelines committees (2016-2018 EAU prostate cancer panel), won national cancer research awards (2017 CRUK inaugural patient involvement research prize) and generated over £8 million in research funding.
