Dr Christopher Broughton

Research Fellow

Dr Christopher Broughton joined the STAMINA team as a Research Fellow in Spring 2026, with his role focused on supporting the delivery of the OASIS trial, an international study evaluating the long-term safety of hydrogel spacers in prostate cancer radiotherapy.

Prior to this, he was a Lecturer in Translational Medicine, pathway lead for the Respiratory Medicine MSc course, and a project supervisor for MSc research dissertations at the University of Chester. Chris has spent the previous 10 years balancing research and teaching in academia, with his PhD research in haemato-oncology at Manchester Metropolitan University completed alongside holding a number of teaching positions, including work as a programme support tutor.

Joining team STAMINA is a welcome return to clinical research, having previously spent seven and a half years as part of the NIHR Clinical Research Network Greater Manchester and Cheshire, including working as a Clinical Trials Coordinator to support clinical trials in haematological malignancies and solid tumours, and as a Senior Clinical Studies Officer coordinating enrolment for dementia and mental health studies.

Chris has extensive experience in clinical trial site regulatory set up, study coordination, and research delivery, and is keen to use these skills for the OASIS study.
